MISSION STATEMENT

We believe that following a death or any significant loss, mourning is a natural experience.

We believe that directed care and support, ever present in the community, facilitates and normalizes the mourning process.

The Foundation provides leadership and direction for that support.

Words of Inspiration
Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal...

May time heal your heart, and may your heart heal with time...

SUPPORT

The emotional tasks of persons who have experienced the death of a loved one are painful, complicated and prolonged. To negotiate each stage of the grieving process, the bereaved are often in need of help.

At the appropriate time, seeking help is simply one more way of coping, a sign of strength and self-awareness.

Support groups provide opportunities for individuals to share feelings of grief, to learn from individuals, to share feelings of grief, to learn from others that they are not alone in their situation and to learn how to cope effectively with feelings of grief. Individuals give and receive support from each other.

Monthly information sessions are held the second Tuesday of each month 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. at St. Joseph's Health Centre, Fifth Floor Boardroom.

Closed support groups (8 weekly sessions), that provide mutual support, education and healing are held throughout the year.

8 weekly sessions, lead by trained facilitators, offered at various times throughout the year for adults who are bereaved due to:
- the death of a spouse
- the death of a child
- the death of a parent
- the death of a sibling
- suicide

Seminars are hosted on topics related to coping with bereavement and death education.
